2. STEWARDSHIP FOR WHOLENESS

When most people hear the word stewardship,

they think about responsibility.

Saving.

Planning.

Preparing for the future.

But stewardship is more than preserving resources.

It’s also about honoring the life you’ve built.

One thing I’ve noticed about highly responsible women is that they often have a much harder time receiving than giving.

I can see why, because there are many outside validating perks to give.

Giving feels productive. Giving feels generous. Giving feels earned.

Receiving often feels uncomfortable for the non-humble brag woman.

Maybe you’ve experienced this yourself.

Someone gives you a compliment and you immediately dismiss it.

Someone offers help and you say, “No, I’ve got it.”

You achieve something significant, and instead of celebrating it, you move directly to the next goal.

I know this pattern because I’ve lived it.

For a long time, I treated rewards as something I would eventually get around to enjoying after I completed one more milestone.

Then another.

Then another.

The problem is that there is always another milestone.

At some point I realized something that completely changed how I looked at abundance.

If you are constantly pouring into everyone and everything around you, eventually you need to allow yourself to be replenished too.

That’s stewardship.

And that’s where the start of self-indulgence begins.

I think one of the biggest misconceptions about luxury is that it’s about status.

But I don’t think that’s what most thoughtful women are looking for.

I think what they’re really looking for is recognition.

Not from strangers.

Not from social media.

Not even from their families.

From yourself to remember why you here in the first place.

Because if you’ve spent years building a career, raising children, caring for others, supporting another company’s vision, surviving difficult seasons, or simply becoming the woman you wanted to become, it’s surprisingly easy to move through those chapters without ever stopping to acknowledge you.

And before long, you’ve achieved things that once felt impossible, yet somehow you’ve never paused long enough to recognize your own journey.

That’s a painful way to live.

Not because you lack accomplishment.
